How to Organize a Messy House: Step by Step Process

First, you have to know that Chaos didn’t come overnight. So don’t expect to get rid of it in one day.

To be clear, we have made our house messy through several days and months. And so to organize it you need more time and effort to do it.

The following are some tips on how to organize a messy house in order to save time and energy.

1-Start with one room at a time.

Pick out one area that needs attention first before moving on to another. For example, if dishes seem like they’re piling up everywhere, start by tackling them so you can stop feeling overwhelmed when trying to cook dinner.

The same thing about your kid’s room, start by sorting toys and get rid of those they don’t need or they didn’t use for over a year.

2-Make a list of the tasks that need to be completed in each room.

This can help keep you organized and on track. This way you can leave out the task that does not pertain to that particular room.

You can start with your bedroom by sorting makeup, clothes, and personal object to see which ones you need and which ones you don’t.

You can through them or sell them if they are in a good condition.

3-Don’t try to do everything at once.

This is a common mistake that can lead to frustration and overwhelm, you have to start with one task and once you complete it, move on to the next.

You can set up a reminder to remember where did you stop and then start from that point.

4-Take your time.

As I said before, chaos wasn’t built in a day and neither will your perfect home be.

Organizing takes time and patience, so don’t expect to complete it in a day or even a couple of weeks.

5-Clean up as you go along.

If clutter is an issue, then try organizing your things when you are not using them. Stand the broom against the wall and hang backpacks and coats on hooks by the door so you can put them away after school.

6-Get some helpers, such as the family.

Kids love to help (most of the time), so why not involve them in some cleaning? Organizing can be fun – especially if you involve those who live with you!

7-Use storage boxes and organizers

Different storage boxes and organizers are available online or at your local store for those tasks that require putting items in drawers or in the closet. Organize like items together so it’s easy to find when you need them.

8-Don’t be discouraged by messes

It may take some time, but you will get there if you put in the effort. A clean home is not something that happens overnight.

9-Get rid of things you don’t need

This is a surefire way to declutter your home and make organizing easier. If there are items in your home that you have not used in over a year, then it’s time to donate them or sell them.

10-Make cleaning a habit by setting aside time every week to do a little at a time

These tasks can be as simple as washing the dishes or cleaning the sink. The good news is that these small steps will lead to a cleaner home in no time!
